Is there any chance of adding an auto-jump option so that, any time you go into a thread, you automatically jump to the last post read?

I very much like the default that hides 'closed' or 'finished' threads in a forum.

Are you referring to the "first unread" option on the top right?

Yup. It's only one click each, but it does add a click and a screen refresh dozens of times per day.

In the fullness of time, if you guys think it worthwhile.

Ahhhh-ok. I didn't catch what you were saying the first time.

I've never seen a site do that, so it never occurred to me. Basically the server would be taking two actions for each click you make instead of the user taking two clicks for each thread.

Interesting.

Perhaps link the red New? to the first unread, since it's just a simple addition on the end of the URL?

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

I really like this idea and have implemented it. In forums, you can now click the red Yes to automatically jump to the newest post!

One more addition, since I can't leave things alone...

You can now set your preferences to automatically jump to new on every thread you visit. Go to your profile, and then site preferences, and answer yes to the auto jump question. Save your changes.

From there out, anytime you go to a thread (whether you click on the red yes or not) it will automatically skip you to new.
