Jay, cool photo of that duck just hanging out on the power line!

Jay, that looks like the shot of a lifetime to me! I have never ever seen a duck walking on a power line! Is this actually normal? That quacked me up!

Apparently it's not uncommon for these ducks. They are sometimes called tree ducks because they often roost and nest in trees and are often seen on power line and rooftops.

That quacked me up too! I never knew ducks would climb trees until 2012 when I spotted a pair of Muscovy Ducks in my next door neighbors Elm tree:

The DWR sells wood duck houses here, so I know that there are ducks that actually nest in trees. I've just never seen a duck in a tree, or on a power line, until these pictures! I would buy a wood duck box, if we had them at our house, but we've never seen them here.

Thanks Ann! That was both frightening and hilarious, all at the same time! I gasped when the first one jumped! Cute little guys!

This is an extremely lousy turkey picture, but it was the best of the bunch. This was later, after the one walked past the window. There was a turkey parade on the other side of the fence. Counted 9 before I lost sight of them, and couldn't get a decent picture. Another Bluebird showed up though, on the same fence post, and I got a better picture this time. Sadly, the fog is still in the background!

The fog background on the bluebirds makes a really nice background. I just love the pose in the first one. Nice shots Natalie!

Jay and Lin - Black-bellied Whistling Duck on power lines! Muscovy Ducks in trees! I never, ever in my life have seen a duck in a tree or especially on a powerline! That is crazy!!! I just learned something new about ducks today!

Natalie, that's a big Gobbler ... must be so cool to see them wandering like that. I like the BB with the foggy background.

Becky, I see ducks in the waterway behind the house often and I see them frantically flying by in the evenings when I assume they are wanting to get back to wherever it is they are nesting before dark but I had never seen one perched on a power line like that Whistling Duck in Jay's photo ... it looks like it's walking a tightrope. The time I saw the Muscovy's in my neighbors tree, I watched them fly to the deck railing and hop up onto a branch and walk up to the higher branches ... it sure shocked me and was interesting to see.
