Sherry - I am guessing that is one example of how different soil can influence the color? I noticed that my Starship Enterprise is far brighter than many of the other pics I have seen posted.

This is what it looked like before it flattened (Judy Mogil again).. It was a pretty late boom, which may have helped..

They say the flatties need warm weather to open correctly or they just look a bit like tulips. That shouldn't be an issue here most years.

And speaking of flatties, have any of you seen Clydesdale??? Aitken's has it, and I am trying to be very patient until the price drops.

I've heard that about Thornbird Lucy... still, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have more color... but, it's still a nice Iris.
