Anyone familiar w/ moss ?
1st pic is from Feb, this year in garden, 2nd pic (thinking it's probably same moss) from from late March, 2012 (also outside in garden).

I don't know a thing about mosses but the first one looks like Tomentypnum nitens:

Possibility, MOBOT says that can be found in Illinois (well anywhere from the Artic Circle to N M). Illinois is specifically mentioned though.

Whatever moss it is it's beautiful moss.
