We're near Barton Creek. We used to complain about the deer eating our plants. Now we complain because the coyotes have eaten/chased off the deer, and are roaming the neighborhood during the days. We lived in Tucson and never saw a coyote during the day.

Critters are being crowded out of their habitats everywhere. They were there first.

With the rain, cool shade and humidity, it's beginning to feel jungle-like. So yesterday I noticed it even sounded jungle-like. When outside, besides the usual bird cries, one more sounded, an unfamiliar one that seemed jungle-like to me. The neighborhood dogs got all rattled about something and were howling. Then somehwhere in the neighborhood, someone was calling something (pet, maybe?) and even it sounded a bit like a monkey. Now, if only something would come and eat all my weeds! Yes, tons of weeds! Without my usual NSAID pills, how am I going to spend a lot of time weeding? My back will kill me!

We were out today and the bluebonnets are peeking out on 360. Thunderstorms tonight should give the hills a good drenching and make all the wildflowers pop.
Do you think the sound was a parrot or macaw that got loose? 'Maybe a large cat of some kind? I'd rather think bird!

Didn't sound like a cat, big or little. More like a bird of some kind. I've seen bluebonnets and pink phlox blooming on the highway near Helotes.

Daughter and family just got back from spring break at Big Bend. Said the bluebonnets and wildflowers were gorgeous in the state park, but not yet blooming in the national park. Had pics of Lupines that were waist high.
