Thanks to everyone sharing their semp photos. I have not been 'bitten' by this particular plant yet, but am watching this week with interest.

Deb, they should do well for you in your area. And they are wonderful to grow with other plants with the same requirements.

Lynn, I do have some, but they are simply the generic 'hen and chicks' with no fanciness to them. I'm rather impressed with the vast color range shown but a bit unclear how one show-cases that given that they are so short and squatty (no offense intended, that could well describe me...)

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing That description sounds like me.

I have all but a very few of mine in raised beds. But they do make beautiful colonies at the front of a border planting. Or in a container.

I love the idea of the retaining walls of the raised bed is also a planting space . I'm going to collect old concrete blocks and build a version of this for myself.
I'm also very impressed by your head planter Lynn. I've been looking for one of these for years . I might even make one next time I feel creative. Sighing!

Thank you Bev, Vickie and Paddy. *Blush*

Vickie, there is 13 beds full of semps, and other plants that will play nice with the semps.

Bev I'm afraid the beds don't have nice big colonies like last year and the year before. I pared down each colony to only 3, maybe for offsets per variety. By this coming fall the beds will be full looking again. Hurray!

Paddy you could do a head planter out of hybertufa. Thumbs up

Paddy, I had that same head planter - found it on 50% discount at Rite Aid last year, very reasonably priced. Unfortunately it froze and cracked over the winter and is now in multiple pieces. In hindsight I should have protected it better. Alas.
