Got a question about bachelor buttons. I love them, but I find they are somewhat lanky. Is there any way to make them bushier? Plant them closer together? Keep pinching them back as they grow? Any ideas?

I buy the dwarf variety because the tall ones drive me crazy flopping over!

The dwarf ones "Jubilee Gem" are less lanky.
However if any of the Bachelor Buttons are in really fertile soil----they will bush out, but then give few flowers. I found that the hard way one year when i sowed a row in the vege plot.

If they have enough room to flop gracefully in between plants they can still look pretty good. I'm really enjoying the multitude of blooms on the ones growing here.

Once they're down each flowering stalk is about 12" tall...just about right. Smiling
