Thanks for those suggestions, Pat. What is the ratio of water to hyd.peroxide?

Also -- using cinnamon as a rooting hormone intrigues me -- how does that work?

http://www.using-hydrogen-pero... you might get some tips, here, MaryAnn. I used an H202 spray / drench, last year, in an effort to stop the botrytis......it *may* have helped.. Shrug! ...it's hard to say..... Confused .....but, for sure, it didn't stop it Grumbling . I read of using it in an old gardening book (2 cups of 3% H202, to 1 gallon of water), and gave it a try.

Something was niggling in the back of my mind. I was looking at Rob's TuTuToe Holders and thinking *don't I have something like that?* Went scouting around and, sure enough, found what I was looking for -- Landscape Pins!!
Thumb of 2015-04-25/Muddymitts/da2a42

So I did exactly what Rob's photos showed -- used them to *pin* the rhizomes down in the soil. Some of the smaller increases are so little that this may not help at all -- but it's worth the try.

Thanks for your good idea, Rob!! Thumbs up

Good Morning...To root the rootless I just put them in water and add the peroxide at no special ratio. Peroxide is water with an added oxygen molecule which eventually will leave because it is not a stable compound. (Not a chemistry authority just liked it in high school) and then you have just water. I think science is learning of the advantages of oxygen as it it now used for some illnesses in the medical field. That being said does not mean it kills fungi or bacteria especially. I do use it now with a lot of my plant seedlings and plants living in water to keep the water from getting nasty. There are so many unknowns in our water supplies anymore. This year I planted my iris in a layer of sand above the compost and regular soil. My soil here is hard as a rock when dry and mush when wet so gardening is a whole new learning experience for me. My garden is just in it's first year so surviving the heat and sun will be a test. As a child my first love was (and is) violets but oh how I love irises! Most of the ones everyone has lost I have never seen as we always had the old fashioned ones so I feel for each of you! Crying Good luck and hope they will come back! Yes I noticed the weather here too has been different, I have chrysanthemums blooming already! Confused

Here's a link to a site that might help if you have not already seen it and maybe you can also ask questions and get advice. Might be worth a try but most everyone is already doing what is suggested. One thing I noticed is there are things you can look for specifically on your plants that may help you decide what is wrong. Also they suggest certain fungicides, etc. Maybe it will help someone.... Smiling

Thank you Pat. I have starred it so that I can find it and read it later. Tonight I am just too depressed to follow through. Today I pulled off three rotted fans WITH a bloom stalk inside. And then it rained. Sad

That IS depressing! Several of mine are blooming of course but we have had high winds for three days with the threat of rain Rolling on the floor laughing But today the gusts were probably 60 mph and when my sister and I got home from a garden show I didn't even look at my garden. It is what it is. Like you lots of work but in the scheme of things going on there is so much more important stuff. The only thing is I can get depressed very easily and the garden brings me so much joy. But even harsh winds are nothing compared to more work and maybe complete loss like many have because of the weather and most everyone had such a hard winter and spring is such a joy bringer! Hang in there and know one more person cares.... Sighing! Lovey dubby

Here's something that is rather funny (I think !) that's coming from this sad, sad, situation. I treated a few more "rotty's_" today, one of which was "Cliffs Of Dover" (Fay 1952)........and ever since , I've "heard" Vera Lynn, singing in my head......"There'll be bluebirds over, the white cliffs of Dover......................", and I can't make her stop !! Sticking tongue out

Arlyn If you haven't found replacements for Crimson King, Gajus and Campfire Glow I should have them. I haven't checked to be sure but they were all planted last year and they are not ones that stick out in my "lost" memory.

Hi, Lori ! Those three are on my "found" list....either already ordered, or promised....but thank you ! I still have about a half dozen that I haven't got replacements lined up for....some I can't find, and some I'm 'holding off" on, waiting to see what ELSE dies Grumbling .I was hoping to score Cameliard from the HIPS sale....but, no such luck ! Rip Van Winkle and Allegiance are "out there", but I'm holding off ordering.....Cedar Waxwing is listed on the rhizome sale, and Cream Cockatoo is another that's "out there", two vendors list it. I haven't found any "new' cases of the botrytis in a few days, but NOW the "smelly " soft rot is starting to affect those that were 'wounded" by the fungus, and some I *thought* I had saved are looking pretty bad Crying .

Oh, I may have Cameliard too. It is raining or I would go double check. I am so sorry about the fungus! Yuck and sad to have lost so many. Let me know if there is anything else I can replace for you.

I will try to get my tags pulled and the list here updated soon so you will know exactly what I do and do not have.

Now, just so you know..I have not exactly been gone. I lurk once in awhile. I have been sooo busy. We have a new puppy and I am collecting Frankoma like there is no tomorrow so I have been a little nutty!

I will post some pics soon, I have some real beauties this year.
