...doesn't look like much, but hopefully it will. I took out the grill part but left the small grate at the bottom & covered it with a piece of window screen, which should drain excellently & leaves plenty of room for roots. Used the pairs of holes on the sides where handles used to be to hang with steel wire (@ hardware store, inexpensive, various strengths, I used 25 lb.) We will see if that's strong enough...

Then I dumped in a box of "shade mix" seeds that's supposed to cover 100 sq. ft. If this isn't filled with flowers soon, well, I won't be that surprised. Seeds hate me! I'm hopeful though! Sorry about the junky look in the background, about everything outside is under really slow construction here...

That will work great as a container, Tiffany. Here's my re-purposed piece of a junked grill. Ultimately I drilled holes for the chain, but here I was using coated copper cable for a sling. I've been using it for years now.

Now I am wondering if we still have that old grill out back. That is really lovely Donald.

Well, the seeds were a bust. Nothing sprouted at all, probably been saving those seeds for too long.

So, I went for instant gratification. Unpotted a pot of various cuttings put together last fall & plunked it in the middle. Then trimmed about 50 long vines of Tradescantias out of other pots & put them all around the outside, with a few pieces of Begonias. If stuff can get going faster than squirrels can mess around in there, it should be awesome soon!

Did you find your relic, Lynn? I have an old wheelbarrow I want to do something similar in too...

I did look, and asked my DH where it was. It went to the scrape metal place. Sad

At least it didn't go in a landfill! That might be more useful anyway than rusting into dust...

Starting to look like something, after replanting about 3 times. I ended up having to put a few fairly large rocks in this to keep squirrels from digging around.

Tiffany, that is really starting to fill in nicely. The coleus is coming to life, and all the draping type plants are starting to do their thing. What is the solid green leafed plant on the left?

TYVM! There's one of those to the right too, with a flower stalk (that's not fully pictured, goes out of frame.) Talinum paniculatum, jewels of Opar. There's a patch of them in the lawn that never gets to bloom, gets mowed too often. I thought that would be a good place to put a couple to enjoy w/o dropping a bunch of seeds in a bed. The obnoxious bloom stalks have plenty of room to lean over other plants, and mid-air, there!

Oh, I just looked it up in our database. Love those leaves, and the tiny blooms are sweet.

Yes, it's so cute, but not that great as a team player in a bed. Needs a ton of space or it leans all over its' neighbors. Said to make tons of seeds too, but I'm a really anal dead-header, so IDK about that.
