Me too, TYVM! Sinbad is a mallet-type, I've been told, and IDK what kind Withlacoochee is. Seems a little diff than the other cane-types I have. I get along well with regular cane-type Begonias, but this will be my first try at these other kinds.

The wheelbarrow & grill lid together, and other plants added to the spot over summer. Digging is impossible, but those plants will take root if just laid on the ground. I did dig screwdriver holes for the purple heart (Tradescantia pallida) stems. They can take forever if not given a little more help like that.


(Does anybody else have a big screwdriver as a garden tool? LOL! I use it all the time to make holes for cuttings.)

I love re-purposing items in the garden. I have a old wagon with a bad wheel I'm eyeing for a new planter.
Maybe something with old buckets and toys and such. How about succulents? They wouldn't mind the shallowness of the wagon.
Purple - any more inspiration I'd need something other than "garden therapy".

Last winter was so mild, Begonia is still alive! Beyond cool!

The hanging grill/planter is getting going well. I added a few things, the T. fluminensis is still alive from last year.

Tiffany that has really filled in nicely. How many different kinds of plants are in it. I don't remember.

Thanks! This year it has Tradescantia fluminensis, basket plant (Callisia fragrans,) Tradescantia cerinthoides, Tahitian bridal veil (Gibasis geniculata,) jewels of Opar (Talinum paniculatum,) Swedish ivy (Plectranthus verticillatus,) and some Coleus & Begonias that aren't big enough to poke over the edge yet.

I love the tiny little pink blooms and dark bead like fruit on the Talinum paniculatum.

They are so cute and mesmerizing, or so I thought when I first saw them, until I realized they quickly go to seed and then will be all over the place. I cut the blooms to use inside and still find plants popping up in odd places all year long. Here in zone 8a, they will survive the winter in a protected location. I'll find them beside the decking, etc.

Me too, the seedlings pull up easily. Compared to the number of cherry laurel, mimosa, oak, smilax, VC, and so many other seedlings I pull, they aren't even on the radar. I deadhead these plants some, but not reliably. Definitely hardy here, I found these in the "lawn." Native.

Wheelbarrow update. Begonia looks so great. I uprighted the snake plants I put there about 5 times, then gave up. I think squirrels were knocking them around, they're going to lean for the rest of the season. Also added some basket plant (Callisia fragrans) which are really taking off.

Wheelbarrow plants are happy, though the Begonia that started it all & survived winter at the roots, 'Withlacoochee' not as much as the others. I didn't water this much when it didn't rain for 5 weeks.
