Yeah, it's really amazing how suddenly a turnaround it was! It's like one day it's depressingly not spring, then BOING! SPRING! I didn't think we'd hit 80's, but yeah, I got the fan out and turned it on me! The kittens are very happy! The hummers are happy! The birds are happy! And most of all, the plants (including the weeds) are happy...I hear them whispering YIPPEE! right now!

70's here in Mississippi with lots of sun. It will be 32F Saturday AM and then 35F Sunday AM. It seems it always turns cold around Easter. Sticking tongue out I hope that's the last cold weather for us. I am getting a little tired bringing in all my potted plants and really want to begin to move all my tropical plants outside for the long-term (till fall). Hurray!

Upper 80s predicted here today and tomorrow. Yesterday hundreds and hundreds of birds flew over heading north. I think they must have been trying to beat the heat Big Grin . They flew over all day and were still going at dusk. I don't think I've ever seen so many in one day. At one time I saw seven distinct and huge V formations at one time stretching across the sky. Music to my ears.

The birds coming through now...I bet some of them would have come through a bit earlier, but like some humans, their flights were cancelled because of weather! I'm starting to see a few more butterflies, now that temps are getting higher. Still a slow start for the butterflies, however!

No butterflies here that I've seen. I guess they are still hunkered down, waiting out this weekend's cold weather to pass.

Hummingbirds were out today, as was that glorious sunshine! I am all dirty from being in the yard all day. I scalped the lawn for the last time. It sure is greening up fast! I placed most of my plants back where they belong. Only the 7 largest trees are left in the GH. I just plum ran out of energy to get them out! They are so big and heavy 8 feet tall and taller. So happy with the way the plants survived the winter in the GH. They are happy, too! They almost look better than when I put them away. The sun and the fresh air is so good for all of us. Lovey dubby

@ShadyGreenThumb Remember when you complained about all the oak leaves last fall? Well, we are still picking up leaves this spring.....more than I can ever remember. Luckily, the little green belt behind our fence has been a good place to dump them. All the rain over winter made soft spongey mulch out of the fall leaves. Now I'm adding more leaves in different spots. I wish I had taken pics of the height of the piles I dumped over the fence the last few days. Today DH took a few boards off the fence, so we could carry baskets of leaves behind the fence. Finally quit for lunch. I'm heading back out, but I think I have lost my helper for the day. Tomorrow we have thunderstorms predicted. It's 85 now, but will drop to 65 tomorrow.

Glad your greenhouse has worked out so well for you. Makes all your hard work so worthwhile.

Yes, I'm tired of the live oak leaves falling also! Several times a day, I shake the matt just outside the back door. Some leaves always sneak into the house anyway. And oak pollen is heavy now.

I still have water oak leaves falling. They are small and not a big problem and are going into the low spots in the Greenbelt, too.

Alas! Here I am in dreary Seattle. The Puget Sound is somewhere under all that fog.

I love Seattle! Only problem is being too far from family. It's a long flight from Austin! I used to trail along when DH had to be there for business. Beautiful flowers, friendly people, great seafood!

We're here for my Mother -in-Law's 90th birthday. It was a grueling long 5 hour flight from Houston. Dh with his handicap was very uncomfortable. But the sun was out today and 70°. It was a gorgeous day 👍

Wow, 90! Hope the sunny weather holds for y'all. Sunny here all day and will be in the 80s. We had quite a windy day after a front came in overnight yesterday. Woke up to a blanket of leaves all over the yard. All that hard work...and have to do it again. Thumbs down

I had to bring in all the tropical plants I had outside, about 100 of them. At least they were able to stay our for over a week. We got down to 37F this morning and will be even colder the next couple of days. Then we will warm back up and the 10-day forecast looks good. I should be able to start moving my plants out on Sunday and hopefully they will stay out until the fall. I won't move the more tender orchids out for another week or so, just to be sure there is plenty of leaf canopy over them and that we won't take another shot of cold weather. I'll move perhaps 500 plants out Sunday/Monday and then will have 300 more to move a week later. I will also start rooting dozens of plumeria cuttings next week.

Ken,
It's a pain to have to move things in and out. I spend a lot of time in the winter months doing that. I think the plants need the light. I took a chance on the temps this week, but moved some things in because of the high winds. I expect there will be a lot of that. The iris are beginning to bloom, so it's the beginning of the windy season!

I have two greenhouses and a third, temporary one for my plumeria. Plus I have a large, enclosed porch. My plants may not do any better being out in the elements, but it makes me happy knowing they are outside. Having so many plants makes me very cautious about the low temperatures though.

I just came in to get cooler clothes. I'm digging spots for some salvias out front. Dig 5 minutes and then stop to visit with a neighbor walking by, over and over! Not getting a lot done, but enjoying the day.
