Found another quote by Kevin about rowing out seedlings
"Spent this afternoon rowing out seedlings and have filled 3/4ths of those two long beds (18' x 6') with seedlings now. Can you imagine the fun we'll have next spring studying all those lovelies? It looks like about 6K seedlings, maybe a few more. Some of the ones from St. Cloud X self have already developed cobwebs and quite a few of the seedlings are showing red or purple colors. The pots were more in the shade so most were sort of grass green when I rowed them out."

I planted these about the 1st of May. cqt - Oops make that 1st of April)They don't seem to have grown much.
Shouldn't they be bigger by now????? I'm all ears!

These had begun to germinate by April 23 based on photos I took that day.

Thumb of 2015-07-15/CDsSister/496fa1

I did move some of these about 1st -15th of June.
They haven't grown either. I have been using quick start on them.

Thumb of 2015-07-15/CDsSister/1eebf8

Can't seem to get a good closeup, sorry.

Right from the 1st --- I had read that it was something Kevin recommended so I bought some when I knew I was going to plant the seeds.

Edit btw Looks like I did plant them earlier than I thought based on post and pictures in this thread

I hope they are big enough to transplant by the end of August. I think that would give them September to adjust. September is usually a mild month for us. October is when it gets iffy.

Marilyn,

They look VERY small for this stage. Make sure to keep them MOIST (but NOT SOPPING) as they have tiny toots. Mine get water every 3 days and a shot of Quick Start at least every other week. Many of mine have increase already. of course this is OREGON not Colorado!

You CAN DO it Marilyn and if not, try, try again. That's what I'm gonna do this winter with the seeds other sempoholics have shared with me! Smiling

If you cannot do it in Oregon, you cannot do it any where. Seems thing sprout on cement there. Hilarious!

Are you going to use milk jugs?

Maybe I should have winter sewn mine instead of waiting for spring.
I have a few left in the packets from the spring. Maybe I will do the milk jug route.

I AM going to do the milk jug method (AGAIN) as described by Valleyynn:
http://garden.org/ideas/view/v...

In my previous attempt of sowing semp seeds, it's not the sowing of the seeds that is the obstacle to success, it's what needs to be done when you transplant. The "keeping-on-top" of the watering of the seedlings is what has been the hard thing for me to do. I'm so used to not watering semps that I forget to look at the babies to water them per Kevin's recommended schedule. So I have lost many seedlings due to neglect. I'm a bad semp seedling Mama... *Blush*
