Today at a plant sale, there was a lady selling what she was calling "tropical Hollyhocks". The labels said they were native to SE Asia and Indonesia. But they looked like a really nice double fringed hollyhock to me.

Anybody know if there is such a thing as a tropical Hollyhock?

It seems that there is an Alcea hybrid called Vietnamese Hollyhock, It is more heat and humidity tolerant.
