I've been at http://www.hostalibrary.org trying to go through names to find these hostas but just going by the alphabet is exhausting!

This one is a bit corkscrewey and spear shaped. I ADORE it, but what the heck is it?

Undualted Variagated!
The next one was an unlabeled Ebay "free gift".Any ideas?

1st one: Fire and Ice? Loyalist? Or maybe a Undualted Variagated?

2nd one: too many come to mind to guess.....

One thing you may wanna do is use the search feature of the database and get vein counts, leaf color, size, type etc etc... the more details the better.. another place I do Hosta searches on is http://www.hostasdirect.com/

#1 is definitely Fire and Ice or Loyalist. WOW they're practically the same except for mature size, it looks like. Mine's rather small but it was also just a little 2 leaf thing when it was given to me so it's hard to tell how mature it really is.

#2 touch of class, maybe. that's the closest thing I can find.

Are these all hostas you inherited when you moved to your present home? or are they from trades, etc? To tell you the truth, I think the first one is Undualted Variagated. The second one looks like it was not planted all that long ago. Did you get it as the free gift from eBay?

New hosta cultivars are nice to have, but never overlook the older established hostas. They are what got us all interested in hostas in the first place. Smiling But then, I've never met a hosta (peony, lily, daylily, iris, poppy, etc) that I didn't like. :)

These hostas were inherited, traded for, bought and donated, lol. I have about 14 different kinds and am only positive on the names for half of them because those I bought with tags.

Yeah, the second one was thrown in an Ebay sale as a bonus last July! So it's not even a year old division.

And re: new vs. older plants, I really don't choose by age. I go with what's available at the best value and from that I merely balance height and color. If I have a lot of newer hostas it's just coincidental ;)

I wonder if the second one could be a baby dream queen. Ebay says I bought Loyalist, Red Hot Poker, Fire and Ice and Pizzazz. Pizzazz is easy to spot and RHPoker is the spear+margin colored one - the seller, however, sells Dream Queen, which is why I think that's what #2 is.

Lol Great, I have Loyalist and Fire and Ice somewhere and 1. don't see where the second of the two are and 2. can't even tell them apart. I'm not saying it's not the hosta suggested above; I'm just saying I oughta have both somewhere. :)

Thank you so much for the sample photo! I'm gonna note it as a baby DQ theory.
