Thread OP

Several weeks back, I purchased this bulb along with a bunch of others things and placed it outside way too early then forgot about it. Last week, I noticed the depressed plant and it appeared dead. In a last ditch effort to save it, I cut off all the dead leaves and cleaned up the bulb then placed in this pot; and low and behold -- IT LIVES! I figure something this resilient deserves a name and special place in my garden.

Hi & welcome to ATP!

Was it a fairly large bulb? Could be elephant ear (Colocasia esculenta.) They're often sold individually while dormant.

Hi Shelly, Welcome! from me too!

I don't know what your bulb is but in the next few weeks you should see leaves emerging and I hope you will post another photo at that time so we can get a better idea of what your plant might be. For comparison, you can view photos of "Taro" bulbs here: Elephant Ear (Colocasia esculenta)

Shelly, you are very welcome! I'm confident that once the leaves emerge someone will be able to identify it for you.
