Hi everyone.

I ordered some Iris germanica 'White knight' online and a few days ago they arrived.

As you can see they're quite small and what I'd like to know is if I plant them in full ground, will they bloom for me this year already?

Welcome! Arico! They look pretty nicely developed, and there's a chance they could bloom this year. Do you know what your growing zone is? That might make a difference. But if they don't bloom this year, they should next for sure. You might try not to disturb the roots too much when you plant them, and give them some good composted soil to grow in. Good luck, and let us know what happens! Smiling

Welcome Arico,
I will agree with Tom. Disturb roots as little as possible when planting, use good soil and you have a good chance of blossoms this year. There are apparently two "White Knight" irises, one with very ruffled falls/standards and the other with almost no ruffles. I believe the smoother one may by Saunders, 1916.
Keep us posted with pictures during the season.

Welcome! ......I would say, chances are they won't bloom this year. I have had about a 25% rate with 'spring planted" iris, but, there is a chance! I agree with the advice given above, as to culture, and care, and hope you have a "pleasant surprise' ahead of you !

I hope to get them into the ground as soon as possible, I have an ideal hotspot where I'm sure they'll thrive (if I can amend the soil well enough haha)

Update: today I decided to plant them amongst my Pennisetum. I couldn't take it anymore seeing them in those small pots and I also didn't know where else to put them (risk of buying stuff you don't have/know where to put them)

Thanks guys! Smiling I'm sure they will; the long sword-like leaves of the iris will contrast beautifully with the more needle like leaves of the grass. Now hope I put enough compost in the planting hole for drainage. I know they don't like wet feet =$

An update. Here's the first picture again right after planting, and beneath that a picture taken today; a good two weeks later. They've really grown if you compare them and I'm SO happy because of it Sticking tongue out Some of the leaves have doubled in size!
