Hetty, how hardy are those gingers? My White Butterfly is hardy here in NE Mississippi, but some gingers won't be.

Ken I have successfully grown kaempferia(in ground) in 8a so you should be ok where you are. Like Elaine said they are slow to make an appearance, I thought mine was a goner one spring and started digging it up. It was still dormant. I would like to try them again some day.

They might need a good thick mulch, Ken but you could sure give 'em a try.

Cool Hetty! I was told they are fussy about warmth and won't come up until the soil is a certain hot temp, but I don't know if that means they'll die in the cold, either.
