This hostas looked fine yesterday, very healthy looking. Today as I walked by I saw a new hosta emerging nearby and stopped to look, then I saw this poor thing. Looks like it is near dead already to me.

My guess is that something happened to the roots.....rotted because of to much water or eaten by a small animal or insect.

I agree Paul, I was just searching the internet and I think it could be Southern Blight. Guess I need to go out and dig up the plant. I am sure it is because of all the excess rain we have had, and a lot of water drains into that area. I have recently lost some Hydrangeas to root rot also.

Well, late yesterday afternoon I took my shovel out to dig up my wilted looking hosta, but after looking again, I decided to just pluck off the wilted looking leaves and leave the new center growth. I was still alive this morning.

I noticed first frost had three wilted looking leaves with the same look of being eaten on the ends, pulled those leaves off and it looks better. Only time will tell.
