Tracey, thank you. I love that peony. Is in probably not NOID that I have, but I would love to have Courage. Love those red freckles. Can it tolerate rain? Courage is high on my wish list now.

The northern peony blooms are wonderful to see, since my season has been over now for several weeks.

Tracey, Maestro and Courage are stunning, they've been added to my wish list.

Liz, Group hug , I'm so sorry that you've had such terrible weather, and weren't able to get a nice bloom season for your peonies. Hopefully, with putting in 60 new peonies in the fall, you'll have spectacular blooms in the near future.

I'm brainstorming ways to protect them more next year already. Thinking I might put up cut down tomato cages over them this fall, means I'll have to cut them back then instead of waiting until spring, and have heavy plastic on hand with bricks nearby. Probably need to mark the ones now that were impacted the worst so I can start with them. I have several that get really big every single year before the last snow and they always suffer for it. Think my husband would balk if I installed several patio umbrellas for hail season???!!!! Laughing a bit thinking of it but if the hail goes on much longer I might get serious!
I weeded some today between storms and noticed a large, single red that always stands straight and tall had some blooms dragging the ground. Went over for a closer look and saw that several stems were broken, hanging on just by the last fragment of "skin", but the blooms were still opening like it wasn't injured! Amazing how tough these plants are! It started raining again before I took a picture, I'll post one tomorrow if it's still there after the rain and hail tonight.

I feel like rain, storms and peonies go together. They bloom here in tornado season and late spring rain season. Often times they get beat up. I even recall going to Klehm's field for the APS show years ago and walking with an umbrella! Maestro was still standing perfectly erect. Probably why it made "the list".

Planting 60 peonies sounds like a lot of digging😊but you will most certainly be rewarded later👍

So here's the peony I wrote about above. You can see one peony in front, well below the others.

The broken stem, barely holding on, probably from massive hail storm 4 nights ago.

Here's a few blooms from this weekend. 1st is Off. Mutablis, planted fall 2013. This is the first year blooming, had 2 buds.

Salmon Beauty, also planted fall 2013 and also first year blooming.

Pink Joy

Thumb of 2015-06-07/LizinElizabeth/1510c0

And Blushing Princess, planted last year. Disappointing first bloom, hopefully will be more semi-double in the future. The bud was damaged by hail but still opened!

Liz, can you put together the broken stems and, perhaps, tie them with something? That might enable plant juces to circulate again.

Liz, so glad to see some blooms made it! I bet you must be super excited that your peony bloom season finally has begun after so many months of waiting. Does Mutabilis change color? Do you notice? Blushing Princess is nice!

Tracey, can I ask where you got Greenland? I would like to get that and Maestro if possible. I have two peonies that have the speckling effect: Pillow Cases and Pietertje Vriend WAGENAAR. I believe that the Fawn does it too though I don't have it yet. Courage is a beauty! May have to add it to my collection someday.

Karen, Swenson's had the Fawn for $15, I ordered 2 of them in March for fall delivery. I also want Maestro!

Liz, I'm glad you're getting some blooms. The damage due to weather is so unfortunate. Several of my plants got hit with the late frost, and they did show damage that I initially thought was due to botrytis. I hope we all have a better spring next year.

Greenland came from Solaris Farms. I haven't seen it available elsewhere and I wanted it for 7 years before I finally got it. Every time I tried it was already sold out.

Based on peonies I have that I love best...they were either seen in person or someone on forum raved about it. It's the best way to find the best. Catalogs can describe things, but seeing for yourself, there is nothing like it.

Here is 'The Fawn'. Purchased because a forum member adored it & so do I😊 no fragrance though.

Beautiful blooms Tracey. I have Mary Jo Legare, this is the 2nd year with it, but no blooms here yet. Is Silver Daubed scented?

I don't live too far from Swensons of Mn and they always have great plants. Mine have all bloomed the first year.

Do your Candy Stripe blooms look like that most of the time, Tracey? Thank you for your info on Greenland. I shall have to look for that next year. I hope he will offer it and Tranquil Dove next next.

CandyStripe has nice coloring but odd form, smaller blossom for me anyway. It's one of the first peonies I ever purchased. Purchased from the hybridizer at his farm.

LOVE Candystripe! It looks like Bric A Brac but with more dramatic coloring! All of them are beautiful, Tracey. Karen, I cut that bloom, have it and several others that were damaged in a vase by the computer. Heidi's stems were so warped it was hard to fit them in! And Mutablis faded some before the petals started to fall but not really a color change.

New for today:
Athena was planted last fall, had 5 blooms this year. All except the last one were so damaged by the weather that I didn't take a picture.

Thumb of 2015-06-07/LizinElizabeth/52bf3f

Blonde Vision was another that carried the warning that late frosts would be harmful. The picture was so pretty that I had to try it though, it'll be interesting to see how it does here. If it increases we'll have to arrange a trade to send it somewhere warmer to see if it does better. This is it's 2nd year, both years it's had 1 bloom. This year's looks better than last, believe it or not!

I think Coral Sunset is my favorite coral. I divided this one several years ago to send peonies to my sisters (trying to share the obsession!) and put pieces in a few different places in my garden. The one in the front yard gets filtered morning sun, mid-day sun and partly shaded in the afternoon and it's more dark pinky coral, the one that gets sun midday on is quite a bit lighter. I think I like the darker color more!

Thumb of 2015-06-07/LizinElizabeth/43f5f6

Early Glow-seems a bit more mid-season glow to me.

Thumb of 2015-06-07/LizinElizabeth/c69908

This is Jean Cowley's 2nd year and the first spring that it's bloomed. The bloom is tiny compared to Coral Sunset which is nearby.

Supposed to be tree peony Yae-zakura but it's WHITE! So far I've never had anything other than white tree peonies bloom! I'm ready for some tree peony COLOR!

Liz, so beautiful!

Other peonies that blend nicely in the coral collection are 'Raspberry Charm' and 'Paula Fay' in case I hadn't mentioned that before. They both fade into coral tones here. I have them planted with my corals and always get a lot of comments about them from people passing by at bloom time each spring.

Whoo Hoo! First peony bloom for my garden in 2015.
I think it may be Coral Fay?
