Does this peony look familiar to anyone? It's very early, flowering, way before other "regular" peonies, and the foliage is different. For a bit of phenology, Pulmonaria officinalis, Trillium grandiflorum, Erythronium americanum are blooming now also. It was here when we moved in many years ago and has survived various traumas and has now found itself in a window-well.

I think that it is Paeonia mollis, now included in officinalis. I tip my hat to you.

Thank you. Certainly looks like many of the pictures of P. mollis I found. From doing a bit of reading it seems not everyone agrees it should be included in officinalis because the foliage is so unique, but at least now I know what it is. Smiling

Unfortunately I can't translate technical terms,
find the description on the website of BG or other professional society and control characters, in particular, leaves, bloom are more variable. I tip my hat to you.
