I have never seen a Poppy like this one before. Anyone have an idea of what it is?

@Natalie Does it look familiar to you?

the two most common botanical species, look at the large difference in the leaves, to identify all the plants is the most important leaves,
the least important is the color of the flower. I tip my hat to you.

Debra, those look like the ones that I sent seed for, that came from my neighbor. She said that they just showed up one year, so she has no idea of the name.

Stefan, it has the broad leaves as shown in your photograph to the left, so that helps narrow it down.

Natalie, I remember mixing all the Poppy seeds you sent with the wildflower mix I bought from Wildseed Farms, but I did a poor job of keeping track of the information on all the packets. Sticking tongue out I am intrigued by the purple eyes at the base of the petals, and with the fronds in the center. Looks like sea kelp or something. Smiling

It's a stunning poppy! Loretta said that she never planted it, and it wasn't there when she bought the place. It just showed up a couple of years ago, probably thanks to a bird. I've never seen any that look like it around here.

Watch out for the blue color means the poppy seeds
