For all you super plant sleuths out there, is this ragweed? Or something more desirable? I'm trying to decide whether to pull this or let it be! Smiling

Looks like it may very well be ragweed. If you don't remember something desirable being there last year, I'd yank it.

I've been pulling up Ragweed seedlings along the roadside as I walk the dogs and to my eyes yours looks different. Can you let it grow just for a little while longer? If I'm wrong there will still be enough time to pull them before they get ugly and mean.

I agree, if that is the plant, the flowers are very pretty and it has medicinal properties, I love the smell of the whole plant. Smiling

thanks all. I believe someone gave me some feverfew at some point so could very well be it! Sad And from the links to prior conversations, looks like it could also be mugwort. Well, I should probably pull it--feverfew, mugwort, ragweed--either way, I probably don't want this plant spreading everywhere.

Thank You! Thank You!

Trust me, that is ragweed. I have been pulling it for about 4 years! Don't let it go to see what it does, you will be forever getting rid of it. The stuff spreads like wildfire and not just by seed but by runner and rhizome. Wear gloves if you think you are allergic!
Good luck!!

Ambrosia has more pointed leaves, but for young plants may not be as strongly.

thanks, Josephine! I think that is similar to what Stefan and Myriam were suggesting--feverfew? It does look like it.

Probably named by Carolus Linnaeus; seems like he named lots of stuff.
