Last year I went to my first dahlias show in Minneapolis, Spartacus is one I fell in love with there. Luckily one of my trading friends had one to spare this spring Hurray!

My dahlia buddy, Dan, mentioned it's related to Vassio Meggos. They both do have the same appeal.

That makes sense. I think I lost all of my Vassio Megos this year, which is disappointing. I loved it last year. However, my Spartacus is a really big healthy plant with lots of laterals, so I am expecting a lot more blooms than I got from my VM.

I grew VM long ago but it bloomed too late - probably my own fault for not having it in enough sun.
