On the midnight raid, er, I mean, the Midnight Dig. Tom be so kind to swap the cat for a good riding horse. Lucy is going to be the mounted patrol while we are digging. And at your kind suggestion I am swapping my hard hat for my sampan. it is wide brimmed AND waterproof.

With all of these special preparations -- I think we should hire a photographer or videographer to record this for posterity. After all -- someone, somewhere will want to know how to prepare for a midnight dig, don't you think? And if we're going to that expense, then I also think we should have some background music. Should we hire a band? Or rely on electronics?

Mary Ann, if you do hire a videographer don't tell the other diggers. They will get all dressed up and look ridiculous.

well I admit, I talk to myself all the time. So singing to myself will not be a problem. If we get sleepy, we can sing lulabyes and we'll just have to dig, label and bag in shifts.... I don't plan on leaving ONE rhizome behind!

Looking ridiculous is almost a requirement around here....

I can't believe I'm sharing that photo, LOL. I have several friends who are into themed get togethers and we have really gotten into outlandish costumes. I won the crown with this one!

I can't stand wearing costumes of any kind. Just always hated that even as a kid with Halloween. Then I became a principal of an elementary school, and of course I had to be everything from Santa Clause for Christmas to The Cat In the Hat for national book week. Ugh.
