Some of you may have seen my thread about mounting my staghorn fern on a recycled fan cage (my profile picture)... sadly it didn't make it through the winter... Crying

The thread "Recycled fan "cage"...." in Containers forum

But I recycled the recycle and planted my small squirrel's foot fern in the cage...

Thumb of 2015-06-10/klc/3ae572

My hope it that it will eventually surround the cage and look totally awesome!! Thumbs up
I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

That looks great! I have had great luck in rooting and transplanting this fern....( I have always known it as a Rabbits Foot fern) but either way, every time I found a little "foot" broken off for what ever reason, squirrels, birds, my dog, me....lol, I stuck it in the closest flower pot, and I have it growing literally everywhere! I bet yours will look awesome!

Actually the Rabbit's Foot and the Squirrel's Foot are two different, but similar ferns.

So many entriely different plants have the same common name. All of these ferns have the common name of Rabbits Foot Fern: http://garden.org/plants/searc... while Davallia trichomanoides is called both Rabbit's Foot and Squirrel's Foot Black Rabbit's Foot Fern (Davallia trichomanoides)
