I have read how you get them but other than the ones Dutch lady gave me my first day (thanks again, so sweet)
How did I get them. Do you get some when you join because as far as I know I haven't done anything to earn them, lol
Thanks

I also agree but you're kinda freakin me out, Blinking
I have already said this somewhere but it is easy to get around here, so much info and so many *willing* to help, not make you feel ridiculous for asking
I have been gardening for a very long time but there is still so much to learn and I am truly glad I came here
But no more acorns, wait until, I get addicted to the raffles and I beggin for them, Rolling on the floor laughing

I do have to say to the acorn power that be, Lindatx8 is kinda the reason I am here. After reading that you get acorns for referring friends/people,
I asked on another forum, (sorry) if there was another forum that was a good one, Linda told me about this one. So does she get acorns?

Thanks again

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Jolana, you will soon learn that it's awfully hard - no, it's impossible - to stop the kindness & generosity of the members of this site so you will just have to get used to getting acorns real fast. ATP is not just a group of people who love gardening who go on an online website for gardening related things. Here at ATP we are a FAMILY -- ATP family. We all work together to make the site the best in the world. We help, we get help, we give, we receive, we become fast friends, we worry about each other, we share triumphs as well as defeats, we console & we are consoled, we are tutors & students, continually seeking more knowledge. We contribute to building the database to make it the best, most comprehensive in the world for we truly feel this is "our" site - we have a certain pride in ATP *because* "WE" ARE ATP. Trish said ATP doesn't only stand for All Things Plants but also for All The People. The All The People is us! Each & every one.
To get an idea of how democratic this site is just read a bunch of threads here:
http://garden.org/forums/view/...
It's a good idea to watch the site talk forum anyway and that is also where you will post requests for things you think would improve ATP or if you seem to be having a problem with a particular function or there seems to be a bug in the system. Dave constantly monitors that forum & will be Johnny On The Spot if there's a problem.
Another forum all members should monitor is this one:
http://garden.org/forums/view/...

and here you can meet the Whitinger family as well as see the video where the winners of one of our Not-A-Raffle-Raffle's are announced.
The thread "And the winners are...!" in The September Spring Bulbs, Agastache and Salvias Not-A-Raffle-Raffle!

Jolana, welcome! One of my favorite ways to get acorns is by adding pictures to the database! One super easy way to do this is if you attend any plant shows or sales, or visit any botanical gardens, to take pictures! Plant shows are super fun and they (almost always) label the plants correctly so I'll take a picture of the plant, and then a picture of the name tag so when I get home I know what's what! I did this recently at Selby Botanical Gardens down in Sarasota. I was afraid when I got busted taking a tag out of a bromeliad for a picture (there are big "no touching" signs in the greenhouse) but the volunteer just said that was a really good idea! Whew! It's easy to take pictures of literally hundreds of kinds of plants at places like that so the acorns add up real fast. I also like botanical gardens since they often grow rare plants that we don't have pictures of in the database. And posting the first picture of a plant gets you two acorns! Plus, you've helped build the database which in turn helps the other users.

Also, adding comments to plants you grow is another easy way. People want to know if you had a good or bad experience with your plants. This is especially helpful to people who live in your region. I can tell you, as a Floridian, we all know the meaning of "full sun" is different here and some plants that do fine even slightly north of us will wither and die here. Other Texans will want to see what you have to say about growing the plant in your particular climate. So your opinion counts a lot and is certainly worth the acorns you will receive!

Welcome! to the site and hope to see you around the forums!

Thank you ginger and to your kids, Hurray!

Sorry gingin, autocorrect took over and I should have looked
It could have been worse, I guess. When one of my great nieces was born, I said, "what a precious baby" auto correct said, "what a devious baby" My niece called me right away, hahaha
