This is driving me insane. No idea what it is. Growing in the field. In a complete circle. I repeat. A circle! A very obvious circle. They are vines of some sort. This IS THE ONLY PLACES IT IS GROWING, CHECKED ENTIRRRRRRRE FIELD. If I find a giant tomorrow, then I will be convinced.

That reminds me somewhat of Virginia Buttonweed, there are two images in our database for comparison:

If you can give a general location such as Southeastern U.S., Northwestern U.S., Europe, Australia etc. I bet one of our very knowledgeable members would recognize it and be able to give you an exact ID.

Crown vetch is sometimes used as cover crop.

Welcome, bhart. Yes, as Lin says we do need to know what part of the country you are in to help with ID. Could be any one of a dozen vines that produce seeds that birds eat. IF you can stand to wait until it produces a flower, it will be easier to identify then.

A bird dropping a random seed in your field, and that seed getting enough rain to grow randomly might produce a circular plant like that. Vines that twine around things do make circles even if they can't find something to climb.

neg on crown vetch, it is a finer leaf that that.

Looks like Wisteria (although there are a few hundred other possibilities).

I agree with dyzzypyxxy that it may be some type of vine. I am guessing that you may live in Florida? The vine may be the invasive Japanese Honeysuckle...possibly dropped by a giant.

It appears to have pinnately compound leaves, which would eliminate Japaneses honeysuckle (and Diodia, as well).

So Chinese Wisteria then?? Aargh, not good to have an entire field of it.
Can we keep the giant?

I would ask your county agricultural agent, they would be able to correctly identify the plant. You should be able to google your county to find out how to contact them.

Perhaps one of the other Vicia species, like V americana which is native to MI or V. cracca (Bird Vetch) which is introduced. Both are weedy in MI and cracca is used for animal fodder.

"It appears to have pinnately compound leaves"...can we ask for some better photos? It may be that the leaves are pinnately compound or it might be that there are opposite leaves along a stem...just saying. It's a bit hard to tell from the available photos.

Would Apios be a possibility? Ground nut.

Thank you very much Rick! I have found the Agricultural "Center" for my area, and ironically is a mile and a half away, after work tomorrow I will stop by and see if I can figure this thing out. It doesn't seem to be a "Vetch" of any kind... what ever that means haahaha, couldn't match any pictures. God reminds me of wysteria, we have a 10yr old plat 30 yards to the left in our yard, but, not blooming yet, and... just doesn't add up. No giants yet, or beans falling, will keep you all posted. Roger that.

I know the original idea was that hopefully someone here could tell you what it was, but if you wind up telling us, then we'll all know and next time maybe be more helpful.

I hope you find lots of help from your nearby pros! If it were me, I would dial their address into my car's GPS and be a'knocking at their door all too often.

If they weren't pros, I would suggest bringing chocolate-chip cookies this time, to soften them up for next time.
