I love it when they are all arranged "just so"!

Paul, your hostas are lovely and you inspired me to try them in containers.

What would you suggest for Zone 5? How big containers? I have lots of slugs, so I need hostas with thicker leaves. What are good cultivars that can overwinter in containers in Zone 5? Please advise. Thanks a lot.

Nice arrangement of foliage colors. A "must" for summer shade gardens.

Jasmin......Choose containers made out of a lighter man made material. I stay away from pottery usually. Pick pots that flare out at the top so that when you want to replant in a few years you can get the plants out more easily. I like containers in good proportion to the Hosta. Allow for a few years growth. As to which plants to choose it takes a little experimentation. My Praying Hands died the first winter in a container but friends have large plants of PH prospering in pots. I've had Pilgrim in an urn for several years. Others I like are Wheee', Goodness Gracious, Blue Mouse Ears......the choice is endless......again experiment. Good luck.
