It's been a long journey and I had mixed my only two batches of seed that year but here she is my first hybrid.



The whole time I thought it was Chaiten x Patricia's pride but since my only other batch of seed that year was Lionheart x ?(unreadable) it must be the latter.

Oh and thanks to all on this forum that helped me the past few years.

Beautiful, Joe. I really like the contrast with the dark centre to the soft yellow. It's a nice contrast without being to overpowering .

(At least the flower is) a big improvement over Lion Heart, in my opinion. There's a lot of good things going on in that flower. Heavily spotted tangos seem to make good parents.

Thanks for the comments guys. I just got clearance from the wife on about 25 x 50 ft section of the backyard so that's will do for now...

It's a beauty! The light green nectaries (?) provide a lot of contrast with the purple-black spotting.

I'm liking the green nectaries as well. They yellow faded a bit yesterday but still nice. Can't wait to see what she looks like next year.

Two days later you can see it has faded but on each petal there is a highlight. On the first picture mid petal it was very golden yellow/orangy the first day and now it's more yellow which is very interesting. The camera doesn't capture it as well as in person but this will be interesting to see next year.

I think one of my seedlings does the same thing. It earned a blue ribbon at our Lily Show this year.

Yup, just this past weekend. Sorry, no pics this time, though. Barely had time to ready my four entries, and then pick them up at the end.

A blue ribbon? Nice Congratulations Joe! What a great beginning. But don't give up on getting Chiaten seedlings! You'll soon wonder what on earth you used to do.
