I was going to submit this as Tibouchina semidecandra but as I look at the two now I'm thinking it is T. urvilleana. The more I read, look and compare, the more uncertain I am. Here are a few pics of the relevant parts. I tip my hat to you.

Yes this is much better. I think our database may have a few misplaced examples. All these decades I thought what we grew locally was T. semidecandra. I've never consider YouTube as a resource in this capacity. It was excellent off all the finer details. Best regards. I tip my hat to you.

OK I changed my mind....or rather I see that I was too hasty and made a mistake here. I took a piece of our Tibouchina in flower with foliage to the nursery where they had both. They are not always correct in their labeling though. I think it is what I had always thought it was: S. semidecandra. So until I can be really without doubt I'll be requesting to move my photos to a parent plant entry. I don't want to contribute to the confusion. Our database here in Sacramento will however go back to what I originally thought it was. My apologies. *Blush* Hmmm. Can't seem to propose my photo be moved to the parent plant page. Anyone know how?

I did that but the Tibouchina entry did not appear in the list? 696235 did work. Thank you. Curious why the parent entry doesn't show though.

I've had the same issue trying to make the same kind of move. I ask a moderator to help in those cases. If it comes up again, I'll try the number thing first. Cool!

What a beautiful pic, BTW!!

Easiest way is to open another tab and search for the parent plant, then copy and paste the number ID. When you try to search for it in the import window, it's often limited and won't often show the parent plant, as HamiltonSquare found out.
