I wish I lived on a farm. I would have way to many plants I think and probably a greenhouse full of orchids.

We live on 75 acres, but I wouldn't exactly call it a farm. Our house and pottery studio
are in the lower third and we're surrounded by giant redwoods and poison oak, and there's
a year-round creek - even with the drought.
The poison oak is a result of logging in the past century and a half. The land hasn't been
logged in 50 years or more, however. The top third, up the hill, is owned by my eldest daughter and
is uninhabited - also home to big redwoods. The middle contiguous 30 acres, also uninhabited by humans, has
24 olive trees that we planted about 20 years ago - they survive without much of
any care, but are small to medium in size. Wildlife lives up there, since the subdivided ranch we live on
has displaced most habitat with houses. With the drought, we're seeing more and more
beasties coming down to the creek. Drives my doggies wild.

I live in Missouri land is cheap here. This county I live in went from 26,826 in the 1900's to 7694 now.
We went from a 6 bedroom house with hardly no yard to a 4 bedroom with almost an acre to this small 2 bedroom cottage with 8 acres. As the kids grew our houses shrunk but we got more space. One more month and the last child moves out.
If you would have a mind at peace, a heart that cannot harden, go find a door that opens wide upon a lovely garden.

Small city lot, here, but I took out almost all the grass in front and down the east side to make room for Iris and other plants.

When we bought our land 30 years ago, it was cheap. Not so since the grape and
pot-growers "discovered "us!

2/3 of an acre with a small house, a boat house and a garden shed. I removed most of the grass and put beds and lanes in so I could plant more stuff. Some of my property is on the side of a hill that is so steep you have to stand up while you are lying down on it.

Large city corner lot. Wish I had more space, but so far can keep building gardens. Old neighborhood so no HOA telling me what I can do.

15 acres on a hillside here. 10 of it is horse pasture and about 3 acres are taken up with various buildings, driveway, yard and gardens. I need to steal some pasture for my garden...

The wife and I built a house on 8 acres and moved in two years ago. The land had been planted in pines that had been harvested by the previous owner which left us with 8 acres of pine stumps. Grumbling We had those pulled with a track hoe and have been trying to make the property "pleasing to the eye" since. So if anybody wants to help out... Whistling
