I just couldn't resist sharing this picture. Even lizards get a sweet tooth now and then. Smiling

Sally: That is so cute! I love having the little Anole Lizards around, they are great for eating bugs but they like nectar too. I thought I'd share two of my photo's. The first one is a lizard enjoying the nectar from a Hoya blossom on my deck and the second picture is "Lucy" a little lizard that hatched from an egg I placed in my terrarium a few years ago. We had to catch moths for her for for a few months during the winter but when spring came I released her to the backyard.

Lin, that is so neat! I don't think I have ever seen a lizard egg....wouldn't know where to look. Although my lanai is probably loaded with them with all the lizards we have out there. Smiling

Just found this little guy hopping across the lanai. Rather than let the cats eat him, I caught him and put him outside in the gardenia pot. That's a little 3 oz bathroom cup he is in. He's so tiny I could fit THREE of him on my little pinky fingernail!!!!

Sally: I found lizard eggs by mistake years ago. I was cleaning out containers where plants were wilted and dead, thought they were in the soil and looked just like little perlite beads. I thought it was perlite until I squished one in my fingers ... it had a perfectly shaped lizard inside but of course the little guy/gal didn't survive after I cracked the shell. Sad

Love the lil' froggie too ... I've rescued some teensy tiny little ones lately from the swimming pool.

I'd love having them around! Some years we seem to have hundreds and other times not so many. So far this year has been scant but I'm glad they are here for bug control. Years ago I was afraid of these little things until I realized they don't have teeth ... just little suction cup like gums that cling to your finger. Smiling

I don't despise them cause I know they got their reason for being here, but they still are a fright when you come up on them when you don't know they are there....some are even pretty but better left alone if I'm concerned...

I'm not a lizard or frog person, so glad I don't have many around. Once in a while I do see a lizard on the brick fence and if there is one there must be more. I freak out enough with snails. When I used to see them I would get the salt shaker after them, YUK YUK YUK!!!

I have had a snake in my little garden pond these past couple of weeks. I did not see him last night, so I am hoping he has moved on. He's probably just a garter or ribbon snake, but still! I love frogs and had a pair, Leo and Lilly, living in my garden pond. Since the snake moved in, I have not seen them. Lucky for them we have a large retention pond just a few feet away so at least they had someplace to move to. Lizards used to bother me when I first moved in here, but the cats have gotten me used to them. They bring them in the house to play with! The biggest cat, Bosco, brings them into the bathtub to play with. They can't get away from him in there! I have learned to keep the plug in the tub. The littlest cat, Remington, brings them in the house and starts meowing until I notice he has a lizard. He then lets it go, catches it by trapping it under his paw and sits and waits for me to take it back outside!! LOL

I have rescued so many lizards from our cats over the years! They love to play with them until they don't move any more Sad so I try to get them away from the kitties whenever possible.

Rolling on the floor laughing no cats here....but we have 4 big dogs....and lots of lizzards. This year we seem over-run with blue tailed skinks. Sadly Onyx, the lab/chow mix, fancies herself "The Great Black Hunter". Bill and I have rescued many from her. Onyx brought one into the mudroom the other day. I got her off it,but it lost it's tail...thought it had run under the gun cabinet where it would surely have died. When I got back from the post office, Bill greeted me with "rescue mission". Somehow the skink had managed to travel from the mudroom, through the kitchen and into the dinning room where it was between the carpet and wall. Tossed the dogs out and saved the skink...same tailess one now covered in dog hair.

Then there was the time D*O*G ,catahoula mix, broght a mole/vole in. Poor thing was desperate to burrow in the carpet...got it in a jar and planned to put it into the garbage can. By the time I walked out to the road I didn't have the heart to do it so I let it go on the other side. Within an hour that sucker had tunneled back into my yard. Sometimes ya just can't win....oh well critter was a happy camper! Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling

We had a domesticated mouse in the house a couple years ago. Someone must have let theirs go and it got into my house. DH says "There's a mouse in the house." Me..."Uh huh, you probably saw a large lizard." DH...."No, it's a mouse. I have to go to the store so when I get back, I'll help you catch it." So there I was thinking DH was seeing things, when all of sudden, out from under the sofa runs this little grey and white mouse! Cats get thrown out onto the lanai and door gets closed. I grab the net from the aquarium and got rug burns on my knees chasing it around. It ends up under the sofa. Me, Great White Mouse Hunter Woman, tips sofa on it's side, moves all small furniture out of the way and scares mouse into the kitchen, where I finally catch it in the net. Double pot holders under the net trapping the mouse, who sits there quietly twitching it's whiskers. I take it out back and leave it by the edge of the woods. I figured he'd either find someplace to hide and survive out there, or a hawk or owl would have a nice snack. Either way, I go back in, put the house back together, put the sofa back in place, wash the aquarium net and throw potholders in the wash. DH comes home and asks if I got the mouse. I inform him that he must have been seeing things cause the only thing I caught was a large lizard!!!!
