I love rainbows. I really really do. They're so special to me because they're so rare. When I lived in NY, I saw them all the time because it rained all the time. But out here in the desert, you don't see them too often. In fact, I just bought some diffraction gratings that I'm going to tape to one of my window in my crafts room so I have rainbows all the time.

Anyways, back to this. My DH takes the train to work (for now.. he just got a new job much much much closer to home!) and so I pick him up at the lightrail station at night. And I went through a gentle storm last night on my way to get him. When I got to the train station, I was greeted by this, so I had to take a bunch of shots. I'm so lame... Some of the pictures are darker than others 'cuz I was tweeking with my camera to see if I could get clearer colored shots. None of these really show how vibrant the rainbow really was. I should get a camera just for weather shots.

Wow -- you actually have WEATHER back there! Each summer it's always the same around here -- hot and still... no weather!

In May, about 6 weeks after our moving in, we had quite a bit of rain and twice, the late afternoon sun poked through and gave us a beautiful rainbow right in the backyard. We could see it from the kitchen and family room. I went out and took these from the deck off the kitchen. I just loved how the sun made the trees glow! The rainbow was like a frame of the garden. Grandkids loved it too.




P.S., don't get the Mariah Carey reference, but to each his (or her) own Toni!. LOL!

Toni, you forgot to mention that it was a double rainbow. The second one is faint but it's there.

Sue - Mariah Carey loves butterflies & rainbows.. everyone in the media makes fun of her because she likes rainbows so much. They all think it's too "girlish" or it's not dignified for a mature woman to like rainbows as much as she does. Hell, if I had a chance, I'd plaster Lisa Frank stuff all over my walls! And I don't see what's wrong with rainbows!

I love rainbows, too. I took that photo with my phone because I was afraid the rainbow would disappear by the time I ran into the house and found the camera.

If you look very very closely, you can see the almost full moon at the top of the pic. The flash blur was lightning. I was trying so hard to get a pic of lightning, the moon and the rainbow all at once, but it doesn't show up very well.

I can't find the moon.

I'll have to admire the rainbows from pictures too. I think you need rain to get those.

Carey - I'm right along with you. I'm in a bubble where it rains all around my neighborhood, but a flock of birdies would produce more moisture than what I get!!!

gosh Toni the last time I prayed that you would get rain you showed us flood pics !!! But I will try again . we are supposed to get storms tomarrow so I mowed the ditch to night if it dosent storm I'm going to be mad we need the rain too not as bad as you do but we do need some good luck
