This baby is 1 m.o. today.
How does it look to you? One section got "dry" very soon, the others seem to be ok.
I can't wait for it to ripen, I hope it will soon!

Sabrina - It looks fine. Give it a little more time to turn more brown and to start opening, then you can happily collect seeds! Thumbs up

It is exciting to see the pod ripen and wondering how many seeds one might get from it. What daylily is it from?

Congrats! My first seed pod is still sitting on my Little Grapette and I'm waiting for it to turn brown. I have the same question as Vickie--what is/are the daylily parent(s)?

Thanks everyoe! It's Lightning Strike x Awakening Spirit.
I have another one (pollinated 7/10) that is growing so fast that it scares me Green Grin! , it's Spanish Glow x Victorian Days.

Now the big fear is for next days, forecast is telling about big storms (after 60 days of dry and hot water) and I don't know how could I protect the seed pods Sad

Sabrina - There probably isn't much you can do to protect them (that I can think of). BUT ... the biggest concern would be if the scape with the pod were to break from the storm. What I have done (and it did work for me) is to use a bamboo stake or something else thin, yet very sturdy to stake the pod scape to keep it upright. IF your scape breaks and the pod is far enough along, you could put the scape (with pod) into a vase of water to keep it going until it matures. BUT that only works if the pod is far enough along in growth to finish ripening. I would definitely stake the pod scapes. That very well may help protect them from breaking.

Thanks Becky, it seems a storm is about to come, and I don't have anything I can think of right now to use... storms after so many hot days can be violent.
One is almost ready, the other is younger but seems to grow at the speed of light. Oh well I'll go around for the house ad see if I can find something useful!

Hopefully the pencil is a long one to really secure the scape as well as pushed into the ground to secure the pencil. The only other thing I could think of was a long, thin piece of metal of some sort.

You mean something so long from the pod to the ground? I didn't get it at first.

Yes. Something tall enough to support it in high winds or rain so that the scape doesn't get broken and washed away.

I would stake BOTH scapes that you have seed pods forming on. That way you don't have to worry about them if the weather does becomes a concern.

We made this to cover the seed pods, it was thundering, wind was strong and then... nothing happened! But at least it's ready for toninght, if thunderstorms should come!
