I really do understand the value of having the threads go to pages.
I'm just thinking that when new folks start coming to ATP they might be a little scared off when they see for ie. a welcome thread with 60 pages and 1000 replies. I know that it has stopped me personally from joining various website forums in the past, and even now.
Nobody's going to want to wade through all of that chat to introduce themselves...or pages and pages of information.

What I'm asking is can you maybe set a limit on how many pages before a new thread is started? Maybe 10 pages?

It would be far less daunting, down the road, for new people.

I agree it would be less daunting.

I suggest to keep those types of threads to a minimum.

What's more daunting is wading through the current thread layout. There are just so many square boxes that hit your eye, it's kinda hard to figure out (at a quick glance) where the replies/posts are. I think it's more a design issue than a page-length issue. Lovey dubby

I'm loving ATP and my only problem is we all get so distracted in Garden Art that we chat everywhere as we forge bonds. Guess that's not a real problem after all. Hurray!

I've come up with an idea that's rolling around in my brain for our GA forum and as soon as I figure it out, I'll be back to share it. Big Grin

Actually, from the beginning, we have had plans for how to adress these issues, and knew that changes were going to be made, and even what those changes will be Big Grin

I haven't been able to find the words to assure you all before (or taken the time to think of them!) but let me try:

Some of the features that we planned had to have actual content on the site before they could be implemented. The layout that we want can't happen without the content to house it. The structures and ideas for our forums can't happen until there is something to put in them Smiling

We also haven't advertised our ideas, because they are our ideas and we'd rather be the first one to give them to you Whistling

So, please don't fret. We didn't throw these things up willy-nilly and now need to figure out what to do. Big Grin
