I got some cuttings of a sentimental beautiful peperomia obtusefolia plant a few months ago. I took off the lower leaves and the cuttings are doing great. Just for fun, to see what variegation would come of it, I planted 6 lower leaves into soil. They are now very well anchored and growing. But still no plant to be seen. How long do you think leaf propagation takes for peperomia?

Some plants have leaves that can take root, but not grow any new parts, leaves or stems, unless there happened to be a bit of stem attached to the petiole. Coleus & Hoya come to mind for that. Peperomia may be one too...? Never looked into it, but let us know what happens, or if you find any outside info about it, pls!!

Very cool find, Greene! Looks like it might be P. obtusifolia at the link. With over 1,000 species of Pep, I wonder if that would apply to all, or just some? Time to experiment!

Thanks. Thank You! I keep that link over on the left part of the screen so I can refer to it often. Always something new to propagate!

One would think being in my greenhouse would be enough humidity to start the plantlet. I know there are roots. I dug up one to see, then replanted it. I will cover it with plastic to increase humidity. It will get to 100% that way since my gh is about 60% most of the time.

If that doesn't work, it's welcome to hang out in my yard. Almost always 90-100% humidity here, for summer anyway!
