@needrain - that was a good suggestion! Thumbs up I have some that are in dappled shade, for a part of the day anyway.

@dave - Thank you for fixing the bugs. Thumbs up I agree with Becky on the search feature. I'm afraid that if we get too many reports *before* we figure out how to create the search portion, a lot of that data will be 'lost' because it isn't searchable. Sad I wonder if it should be by zip code, zone, or region (for instance, mine would be "SE Michigan")...

Maybe we should go ahead and add our zip code to our location? Of course, some countries may not use zip codes.

We don't lose anything because all the data is being stored and it's there in the database, ready to be used in the future. When we add search functionalities (however we do that) then we will then be able to access the existing data.

Right now "Location" is a field in the local report area. Entering any location that resolves to a real place (like using a zipcode or a city, state or what have you) means I'm storing that now. I can later use that location to convert it to a coordinate (latitude/longitude) and present it on a map, or let you search for nearby reports and things like that.

Never fear, Dave is here! (Like Never Fear, Mighty Mouse is here!) I am not being disrespectful, that is what popped into my head when I read Dave's reply about not losing location data. I haven't thought about that song or show in decades! Apparently one of the old file cabinets in my brain was accessed because of Dave's reply. Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

@dave - do you think it would be beneficial to have an acorn option for reports, kind of like we do for photos? I wanted to give Larry an acorn for posting info I needed about Tuscawilla Tigress, but wasn't able to do so directly.

@seedfork - that's why I gave you a random acorn! I needed the bud/branch info for Tusc. because I only have 1 scape, currently. Thank You!

@DogsNDaylilies this has been enabled. You can now give thumbs and acorns to local reports.

Thanks for the acorn, make sure to take note of the date my 'Tuscawilla Tigress' was planted(in comments). It is just over a year old. It was the most robust plant in that shipment and has continued to be the standout plant, it is bigger by far than any of the rest and already has several fans.

Does anyone else think it might be a good idea for the reports to have an optional field for "First Bloom" and "Last Bloom" dates? Maybe our local reports should have an 'edit' button available only to the report's author...and this would allow them to go back in and add information--such as last bloom date--for that year's report.

@Dave: I also feel like it might help to have something that helps determine how reliable/average the data is. For instance, it might be nice to have a section that says "Number of Fans" and the options are "1-2 fans", "3-5 fans", "6 or more fans"...and/or a section for "Approximate Number of Years Owned" and the responses could be "Less than a year", "1-3 years", "3 years or more".

You have some good ideas there. First bloom and last bloom would interest me as that would tell me how long the blooming was for it. What about reblooms? Fans would be relevant to scape production. That is info I could fill in if I look back into my monthy/daily photo folders on my computer. Though I am not sure I took photos of the last blooms. The thing is .... how many people would be willing to do that for all the cultivars that they have?

@DogsNDaylilies your local reports do indeed have an edit option. Open your report and you'll see the option to edit it at the bottom of the screen.

I'd be happy to add first/last blooms to the system. It seems like a nice optional field.

I've added "How long has the plant been in this location?" to the main local report area. It's optional like everything else.
