It popped up next to my snapdragons (which are pouting right now for some reason). I don't want to pull it if it's something desirable, but I don't want to keep it if it's poisonous or a weed. Thanks!

Well, I'll be darned! How in the world did it get in my garden? I don't know what to do--pull it up, or let it grow and see what happens!

You could take a leaf off and kind of smush it in your hand and see if it smells "cabbagey" -- then you can decide if you want to keep it (it certainly looks happy, whatever it is! )

It does indeed look happy ... I'd keep it to see what it turns out to be!

It also reminds me of Nicotiana glauca (which can be an invasive in parts of CA.) If so, then it will be easy to tell when it blooms and you can remove it, if needed. Although the leaves are usually a bit more pointed than your plant, the leaf shape can be variable on Nicotiana glauca and I've seen some photos of leaves with really rounded leaf tips.

I was afraid of this. I have two of the tree tobaccos in my yard right now, and the things get HUGE! I didn't think this was one of those though, because its leaves are so soft, but then, it's an baby so... I think that's what it is. Aren't they toxic? Seems I read that somewhere.

Yes, it's reported that fruit, leaves and roots are poisonous.

It's also going to get way too big for my little garden, so I'll have to pull it out. Why do I hate doing that? Thanks everyone.
