Hello, I am a new member to the AIS and have a voucher to spend. The Lexington KY Iris group has recommended Winterberry Iris

I love all TB but would love to hear if anyone in zone 6 has cultivars that rebloom for them.

All info shared will be appreciated. Pics will be great too.

Teresa, I love Winterberry, not only for their courteous service, they treat you like a friend..... I love their irises. Donald has been working on a lot of rebloomers and has done a great job. I collect the smaller irises so don't grow many tall Spoons. One of the reasons I think their irises do so well for me is that they do not have to adapt to my climate as much as the PNW irises do. I hope others on here grow more of the Spoon TB's and can help with your choices.

I grow the following irises of Spoon's Each one is a very good grower here. Sky and Sun and Plum Pretty Whiskers are my favorite of them.

I grow around 30 Spoon irises. Only several are TB's. Daughter of Stars is a great rebloomer for me but don't buy it as I should have enough to send you a start next spring. You will have to remind me.

The one that I have had good rebloom from Winterberry is Autumn Garnet. It rebloomed several stalks. I also have rebloom from Raspberry Silk. Sweetheart Ring is lovely and always reblooms but it is usually caught in the frost or freeze every year.

Autumn Orange SDB very reliable rebloom, great color !
Daughter Of Stars TB *fairly* reliable re bloom
Earth And Sky SDB reliable mid -September rebloom
Love Goes On BB VERY reliable rebloom, great iris !!
Peach Parasol BB just planted last year, so no "info" on re bloom, yet
Purple Joy SDB One of the most reliable I grow
Twiggy BB *fairly* reliable re bloom.....but worth having for "spring only" bloom...it's a nice one
Zee TB Reblooms here, but most of the stalks freeze out.........our usual "Killer frost" is around the first week of October. "some" of the Re's seem to take a lot of "killing freeze" to stop them.....this isn't one of them!

In years when I had the ambition to cover, or otherwise protect the ones with stalks / buds, I have extended the bloom for a week, to 10 days....but the last several years, I just let Mother Nature take her course !

I have a bunch on that list. Some re-bloom and some have not tried to.

Again & Again I get re-bloom every year.
Daughter of Stars This one has never even tried to re-bloom for me.
Twiggy It has re-bloomed once in four years.
Mariposa Autumn It has re-bloomed three out of four years.
Autumn Circus It has re-bloomed once in five years.
Zee It tries most every year.

Thanks, Greg Geez I hate to hear that about Daughter of Stars. I am more south than you, so just maybe. M. Autumn is on the list.

Again And Again and Daughter Of Stars re-bloom without fail in this zone no matter what the conditions are. Clarence needs extra watering to coax a re for me.

Do you guys ever use any fertilizer late summer to help rebloom?

Yesterday I pulled wild violets from a couple, I HATE those little guys. I bought one home years ago and it has been ON ever since. Live and learn

I fertilize the rebloomers as soon as "spring bloom" is over, them make sure they are never short of water.

Arlene, I am wondering if mine get to much water. I have mixed beds with daylilies, some iris seem to drop their leaves

I am trying to be more consious of not watering them as much as the dls.

We are so dry here right now I just hope to get some rebloom. I recently moved Clarence and Barn Dance so I know they will not bloom this fall. I put them in a bed that gets more water and is closer to the house so when they bloom (next year) I can sit on the screened porch and enjoy them. I am planning on moving another one but it is blooming now so I will wait until September. What fun it is to play in the iris beds, anticipate a rebloom and dream of next years spring bloom season. I want to move some to another bed that are not my favorites and make some room for shorter IB's nearer the house. That will probably come next year. It is too hot here to be doing a lot of work in the garden.

We grow the dwarfs of course. Exotic Eyes does well & Katniss is a cute new one.

I do not, which is part of the problem. I am trying to group them more so they are easier to give TLC so they will bloom better.
