These were made from pecan tree parts: the husks are the petals and the stems fell from the trees. All I did was use acrylics and a couple of coats of polyurethane and then mounted on a spare piece of plywood. Oh, and I tinted the frame.

I've seen sites suggest it before but the boxes here are too "thin". When I was in Maine recently we ordered pizza - "THICK" boxes, perfect! Dragged them all the way back to Virginia! Rolling on the floor laughing

Oh yeah, I even brought back the clear plastic containers from the sandwiches I bought in the hospital cafe - perfect for storing mosaics or whatever! Rolling my eyes.

Cliffdweller, sorry for OT comments. *Blush* Back to our regular program...wondering if you're able to keep these "flowers" outside all year? Confused

Speaking of seed pods - I found these dried pods hanging on a vine so I harvested, painted, and mounted. Thanks for your comments.

Cliffdweller those are very creative
Have you tried pine cones
If cut carefully they make excellent wooden roses or zinnas
The newer ones do better
We once decorated gourds with them
Check out my daylily seedlings Daylily forum page 4
