this/next week I'll be receiving about 35 new DL's, so I'm clearing my borders from almost finished annuals and want to rearrange my borders
I thought that I had deadheaded all DL flowers: they are all newly planted and I want them to put all their energy in growing.

Not necessarily. Try to keep as much soil around the roots as possible when moving them. And keep them well watered afterwards. I've had a lot of aborted seeds this year, but I'm sure it's because we've had hotter weather than normal and I've found it harder to keep up on watering. My Daylilies have been too dry most of the time.
