I overwinter mine in pots outdoors. I just tip the pots. But we get more snow than you, LOLOLOL. All except orientals, and I just don't put them in pots.

(Jo and I are joking back and forth about snow, as Rochester and Syracuse have a contest each year as to who gets the most snow, along with Albany and Buffalo). We usually win. But we get twice as much here in the snowbelt. It's snowing at both our places right now, about 4 inches total so far. )

No one would believe what over 100 inches of snow looks like.Especially if its been a cold winter and not much melting between storms.

Most of it is, Diann. But we're not as bad as Montague, which is on the Tug Hill Plateau. This is where the lake effect hits the hardest. 466 inches one year. Over 100 inches in a single snowstorm.

We even get lake effect from Lake Erie at times.

We're on the east end of Lake Ontario, just where it starts to curve upwards, if you're looking at a map, and we're about two miles off the lake. If you go ten miles south, they get 1/2 the snow we do.

Oh, well, good insulation.

Around the first of April. We melt fast, as the ground almost never freezes under all that insulation. Only the top 1/2 inch or so, where it's exposed to the snow freezes. Usually at any given time we have accumulation of three to four feet. That's about what we have now.

I was hoping for an early spring, but a big snowstorm is predicted for tonight and tomorrow.

Oswego, a few miles away, has had snow banks until August.

How much snow do you get, Diann?

Nothing like you get, that's for sure. Smiling LOL The average statewide snowfall for Iowa is about 45 inches. But that is an average of everything state wide. Last year in Eastern Iowa, I can't remember for sure, but I thought we topped 60 inches, but Western Iowa didn't hardly get a thing. This year Western and Central Iowa have been getting hammered, and Eastern Iowa hasn't had as much. Which isn't to say we haven't had snow, just not as much as some Iowa folks got. Snow slows things down for a day or so, so I can live with that. But a couple years ago we got some nasty ice storms and that just stops stuff right in it's tracks. I'll take snow any day over that.

But soon, hopefully by the first part of April our snow will be gone, maybe even by the latter part of March. Then I can go out and play in the dirt! Yay!!

I do hate the ice. I'm very afraid of falling. And we're so rural. Our roadway to the house is over 1/2 a mile, so ice is bad.

You're right, spring's not far away now.

I honestly believe we will not see another blizzard this season.March usually gets nicer and nicer and even if there is a 2-3 inches the average day temps melt everything in one day.

We're usually snow-free in early March ~ that way we're all clear to get the big state-basketball-tournament-snow-storm. That melts after a couple days and then we green up like crazy.

But I think Spring is going to be late again this year.....
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?
