Hmmmm -- well, all of you did seem to have warmer weather during the actual summer than I did here...

Did anyone else see the eclipse of the moon tonight? Seems like it doesn't happen very often that it's not only visible here, but the sky is clear and the weather is nice (it was around 65F with a light breeze here). If the northern lights had been active it would have been perfect! Smiling

Clouds kept us from seeing the moon until it was just starting to come out of the eclipse, we were very annoyed at the clouds seeing as it was perfect yesterday. Glare But what we did see was still interesting and I got a few photos that I will check out later and see if I have anything worth showing. It was lovely setting over the mountain this morning. A few snow flakes falling this morning.
Too windy to work out in the yard.
I still have bulbs to get into the ground,
and my Vesey order of peonies should come this week.

YUCK!!! That sucks Caroline, hope it warms up there so you can get your bulbs in. We had rain most of yesterday and more last night, so far today is sunny and 2c/34f, probably too wet to work outside in the beds.

It is supposed to warm up this coming week.
So it is not all that bad---just around freezing but snow has disappeared.

We have warmed up to the 40's and low 50's during the day after having lows of 30 and 20's at night. Ground was frozen down about 2". I still have some peonies and lilies coming. Hope they get here soon before the weather takes another nose dive. Fairbanks has had tons of snow and it is sticking. Our's melted and we are back to rain rain rain.

Still no sign of them. You would think they would ship to northern states first.

OMG, that reminds me... I am supposed to be getting some hazelnut plants from the Arbor Day Society; I got a notice that they would be shipped in November so I contacted them to let them know we could very likely be buried in snow by that time and asked if they could ship in September. Got a reply that the date had been changed to October, but so far no plants. Sticking tongue out

I can see where the companies might not quite grasp the concept of "Michigan Upper Peninsula," but you would think "Alaska" would sort of tip them off to early winter!!

I have been so dissappointed with late fall shipping that I just do not do it anymore.
I did order peony roots this year, and one lot came in a timely matter, but the other was later than I wanted. I have all the roots in now. But garlic bulbs are still waiting to go in the ground.
