You can always look at the website and make your selections before your form comes and fill it out right away when it comes, because you'll have done the shopping part already. Smiling

Oh! so those links on the website ARE the sales list? Are those the sale prices too?
Are we guaranteed to get what we list on our order form? Or more likely to get the bulbs if we mail it right back?

Yes, that is the sale Hurray! !! There is a fixed number of bulbs ordered for the sale. I assume it is based on the success of previous sales. The ones that have "Limited availability" in their description will be in shorter supply. If something in your order runs out they will substitute with another of equal or greater value. So you will want to get your order in as soon as possible if it is really important to you.

Please note that the net proceeds of this sale will be donated to a horticultural scholarship fund in memory of a couple of members who recently passed on.

Anything that states limited quantity-order early means exactly that...the minute your form comes, send it in with your money. It's hard to *guess* what might sell, so in order to add other growers to our sale we have to buy an amount, and if they don't sell, not only do we not make profit, but we also lose money in some cases. So we *guess* the best we can...hoping to sell all those in particular, sell them all out in the sale.

Happy Shopping and keep lily dreaming....
Hurray!

You might know that I missed one in the listings! 'Calgary Tower' bred by Eugene Fox coming from Valley K Lily Ranch. You can add it to the bottom of your form if you want it. It is also limited offering. Very, very nice lily!

I went through that list so many times, trying to cut my order down to a reasonable amount, and now that it is here, I wish I had ordered them all!
Every time I show anyone a picture of the lilies I ordered, they want some. Especially anyone who has seen my huge Silk Roads in bloom--they want those plus all the other orienpets I think are good. I feel just a tad guilty wanting to keep so many for myself.
Will the spring list be the same bulbs, more varieties, or fewer?
And...I bought a new 3" bulb auger for the drill, just in case I run into some harder soil. So far, all the soil here has been real easy to work. A few houses ago, I had to use the drill on all my bulbs. My last house, I stayed long enough that we had perfect soil and planted in huge trenches. Some of these bulbs are so big, I'll be digging deep holes.
(not as big as Buggy's...but very nice!)
So glad I found this thread and joined up.

Hurray! Thumbs up Lovey dubby

As of late December, 2010, this lily society dissolved. They have moved in another direction, hoping to gain some more interest in lilies within the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon. Much of what I understand the problem to be is that members no longer wanted to do tasks like write newsletters, be treasurers and do the things that are necessary to keep a society afloat. And while it is not fair to blame members who have done many tasks over many years, it is sad to see that there was no one to hand over the responsibilities. A society with such a rich history dissolved. It took me while to comment on this because it hit me hard.

Being involved from a great distance, there was only so much I could take on, helping with the bulb sale. So I guess I am here to say that if you love something, get involved with it! Share your passion with younger people/ other people. Online communities are wonderful, but there is still a lot to be experienced in communities like the PNWLS.

I plan on moving forward with the lilium group in the HPSO and assisting with the bulb sale, at least for now. The bulb sale will be similar to what the PNWLS has been doing for many years. They (former PNWLS members) see this as potential opportunity to attract other hardy plant members to the beauty of lilies and possibly open up a whole new cast of lilium connoisseurs.

It was very sad to hear of the dissolution, Tracey. I had joined in 2009 after seeing some of your posts. The bulbs I received from the sales were unique, special. I am glad to have joined when I did. And the information I received from the society was well worth the cost of membership.

When I received the mail out announcing the dissolution I was saddened, and thought of you, and the others putting so much time into making the society a go.

I'm glad you will continue with HPSO. Best of luck with it, and please keep us posted.
