Well, it strikes again, before the snow has even melted. I walk in to get groceries at Costco and the lily bulb rack falls into my cart. Any help would be appreciated. I believe this lily disease could be worse than the lily beetle or any aphid spreading viruses.

I try to be good. Will they go in pots? They aren't even anything that super special or anything. This disease, it has no class either. Seriously...who would buy 'Tiger Woods' this year??

Hanging my head in shame. *Blush*

Oh dear this is indeed serious! I think some government funded study at a university is in order!

I've heard they've done studies, but alas, there is no cure expected in this millennium.

No need for shame. Wear your affliction proudly, as this is the most expeditious way to attract those who also endure the disease, so that they may support you and you them.

Be generous in sharing the aspects of your illness by freely distributing the offending subjects, both in tangeble form and photographs.

Be proud to display your pollen stained clothing (though it is acceptable to wipe the pollen off the tip of your nose...)

Bask in the glorious beauty your symptoms will ultimately bring you. That beauty which only others similarly afflicted can know.

Hi, I am lurking here on the Lily cubit as I need to learn more about true Lilies (I know much more about Daylilies LOL). I thought I would share something I was sent that seems relevant to the discusion of "Lily Disease".

The following was sent to me by Kim King, who sells as Kingsbirdhouse on the (day)Lily Auction:

CHAD

Charlie Harper, MG 2004

One of the benefits of the Master Gardener Fall Gardening Symposium, sponsored by Hancock County, was learning the technical name for the problem I have with buying plants. Dr. Laura Deeter introduced this important bit of information to the class.

It's CHAD - 'Compulsive Horticultural Acquisition Disorder'. Typical symptoms are 1.) impulse buying of any new plant encountered, 2.) buying it without having even the vaguest idea of where you are going to plant it, 3.) putting new plants in willy-nilly into the most convenient, available spot in the garden, 4.) eventually filling every available empty space, resulting in unmanageable overcrowding, and 5.) losing the lawn to 'bed creep', as beds are expanded in an attempt to relieve the overcrowding, while making space for new acquisitions. Other symptoms may include 'new plant envy', 'gardener's resentment', financial exhaustion, and a number of specific addictive behaviors, including hostaholicism, hemeroholicism, etc. Though not discussed, it appears that eventual loss of bladder and bowel control may presage the onset of insanity. No cure was offered.

As I suspected, it is widespread among gardeners, especially Master Gardeners. I don't feel so badly now. At least I know I'm not alone.

So that TBV wasn't the cure either, huh? Though it may be a temporary solution, a true lilyaholic would only briefly stumble after that, before ordering some more to replace the ones that were lost.

So what I am seeing is a very grim diagnosis. *Blush*

Tulip Breaking Virus. The think the makes your lilies look like something quite ill. The flower color is broken throughout.

Oh yeah, that's the virus that set off the Tulip-mainia in Holland in the 1500s.

Ah heck, thought I finally had a name for that stuff that my son tries to grow on his chin from time to time. Some call it a beard, in his case it looks more like a fungus.
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?
