Shucks! And I had my shovel all cleaned up and ready to go...Maybe we head straight to Susan's instead...dog treats packed!

Thought about you today Polly. I walked into Lowe's and noticed that I had lily pollen spread up both arms. At least I got some work done in the gardens today-and it rained really hard for all of about 10 minutes. Who could complain?!

Oh yeah.... if you're going to Susan's, you better watch out for Pedro ~ he's a killer!
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

Yup, I'm with you there Bev. I don't think I ever have clean fingernails, either. I just don't even think about it.

OK, what kind of dog does Susan have? I love dogs, but this sounds baaaad. .

I have a cat and baby bunnies all playing nicely in case anyone wishes to come dig in my gardens. I'm sure the cat would help.

VOLES! They destroyed about 50 lilies in a single year. Lilium Artistic and Longidragon. What did I do? Volblock/Permatil. Took care of the little buggers. I use Shotgun Deer and Rabbit Repellent and Milorganite to keep the rabbits at bay. My nemesis was a VERY large rabbit that I saw in the yard 2 winters ago, almost every day, and couldn't figure out why. Come spring I knew - 48 large tulip bulbs, all in one spot.

But he's gone, and I only have one small bunny. So I sprayed in spring until the buds got big enough (and the grass came in and became tender). I lost one bulb to frost and one to heat. That's all. Thank goodness!

I think the red lily beetle, for those of us who love lilies, is by far the worst. I can handle, rabbits, chipmonks and voles with preventative action. But the lily beetle requires constant vigilance. And removing their excrement must be disgusting.

my worst pest is mice, the moles are very bad and the mice (and yellow jackets) use the tunnels, we have lost several hundred lilies. I now have a varmitgetter-the next best thing to dynamite! Sincel I have no crop to care for anymore I am FOR HIRE!
check out this-it is for a similar product.

Seems like it would be something that would make you feel positive, like things could go in the right direction. Too bad there's nothing like that for bad neighbors Rolling on the floor laughing

Bev if you look at the Buggy Crazy website and read the opening page, you'll see what I would call the definition of very, very bad neighbors. I wish I was Lisa's other neighbor, 'cause we'd be having some good old fun with those nasty neighbors. Big Grin

I have read that before and it's very hard to believe that human beings would behave that way. Very sad. I'd join you in the 'good old fun' department. Whistling

I hear such stories of illogical and no regard for the law neighbors regularly where I work. Just last week from a co-worker:
Even though the neighbor has been told nicely several times, she still thinks the deal she had with the previous owner is in perpetuity. This time, the neighbor had my co-worker's tree trimmed, and it now looks like a 35 foot giant lollipop.

OH yeah, I'd be there with my whole arsenal of good behavior strategies. As much I truly dislike confrontations, I have noooo problem tackling problem children, dogs, errant spouses, you name it ~ bring it on!

I learned from the best ~ my mom. Sweetest person in the whole world but all it took was one look from her steely blue eyes with a raised eyebrow is enough to make you wilt. Thumbs up

I have a very good friend who has the most sweet calm voice, that even when she has just ripped you a "new one". Well, not me, per say, but I have been present for her calm confrontation a time or two, interestingly enough, these people have no idea the magnitude of what was said to them, until they have walked away. I can figure about 15 minutes later, when it sinks in, they realize that they have been reprimanded and she is long gone. I only wish I had such a way about me.

We all learn from the best, don't we?
