I have done so a few times, but no go today, at least when my purpose was to get some in flight pics...

Inadvertently, I did get 1 of these little guys in flight.

Here's a question for you bee friends. Watching bees flocking around Amistad salvia and noticed they don't duck inside the bloom to get pollen instead they perch on top side of blossom, didn't get a picture of bee doing this but here is the blossom shape. They were perching on the black part where flower comes out from. What is going on?

Perhaps eating a hole through to get at the pollen?

Or maybe the tube is too narrow and they cannot reach the nectar from going inside the tube so have found another way. Some bees have longer proboscis, or tongue than others.

I swear, I will let a caterpillar crawl on me all day long but when it comes to other bugs I'm like, "No way!" Okay, this is a caterpillar of the Regal Moth. The caterpillars are known as Hickory Horned Devils. I'll let that crawl on me, but I scream if I see a grasshopper. The other night, Dad was swinging at a Cuban Frog and when it jumped, so did I and I screamed. Don't ask me what the difference is.

I forgot to post the picture of a spider I saw today. There were actually two of these, but I could only get the camera to focus on one. They weren't that far apart on the plant which I thought was weird. I always think of spiders as solitary creatures.

Nice day here today...the asters, as usual were a big draw for butterflies, 7 different kinds including a couple of Monarchs. Unfortunately, the pics leave something to be desired; anyway, here's some -

You know, nobody wanted to hold my caterpillar that day except my friend Dominic, who is in 8th grade now and has been visiting MOSI for years. I had a few people pet the caterpillar, but no one else wanted to hold it. I wonder why? Rolling on the floor laughing
