Hi Janet, that looks really close but then I think I have another tree, with a different bark (more shaggy) that looks like that one. I know the acorn looks right for Q. texana on the tree I'm thinking of.
I'm not sure what the acorns look like on this one, will go tomorrow and see if I can find any in the tree, I didn't notice any on the ground but will look again.
I'm not going to be in any hurry thought, I've waited about seven or eight years, so can wait a little longer.
