I've been thinking this one might be white oak. Leaves have rounded lobes and the bark is shaggy.

I think I have a picture of the fall color, still looking. It's more orange, sometimes multi colored.

The bark doesn't look quite like I'd expect, but based on the acorns and the leaves, it might be White Oak (Quercus alba).

The white oaks I see in the Midwest don't have bark that scaly, but looking around the web, some sites show bark similar to yours. Seems especially to be the case in the South.

I'm going to mark this one as solved - White Oak, Quercus alba. I'm 95% sure it is correct. I'll be watching for the fall colors and post here.
