I used to do the flower show here. I used 2 L soda bottles that fit perfectly into waste styrofoam packing from work. The styrofoam block originally held 6-2.5 L glass acid bottles so there was some space between each. I used a bit of tissue at the top to hold stems in place.

For thicker stems I cut the plastic soda bottles down a bit at the top to make a wider opening. Our show was in late May so no lilies then but lots of bearded irises that can have thick stems that would not otherwise fit in the bottles.

Sexy (and Saucy) are in the eye of the beholder. The lack of beer diminishes the concept a bit...

You're a gal after my own heart, Pard. No lack of beer here.

I am going to do some iris flower shows next year, and have been thinking how to transport. JIs and sibs.

I just keep dreaming about how great a lily show would be about now. Will you do us a photo essay of your travels to the lily show? Pretty please?

Since you don't have styrofoam carriers like I had you could go to gallon milk/juice/water jugs. Fill with water and that weight should keep them from moving around or tipping over.

Oh yeah, I showed off my Siberians too. Sometimes I would have buds not quite opened so before I left for the show I would help them along with my hair drier on low. Worked like a charm. Just dropping a hint... Our show was always a week too early for my Japanese irises.

i'm taking friday off, from my work,.im one of the many major competitors[doesnt mean im good, just means i enter a lot of lilies],i will be picking and shifting lily stems all week to get the best blooms for the show,i also thrive in floral art, although my style is 'unconventional',it gets the general public 'talking'[but keep that quiet,]or everyone will think i'm a gayboy[ive got a daughter, granddaughter, and was once a heavy duty security officer].im also a commitee member of the show, and amongst all of us,we want to have the 'best and biggest'-little show in Australia,.i get very excited'stressed'tense'nervous'cant sleep and friday, through to saturday will be the biggest moment for me for the year,we have a ''monster'' party on saturday night,.and it amazes me how everyone recovers by sunday,'myself included.i will do my best with photos of the event,.by sunday afternoon, everyone involved with the show,is running on,left over adrenalin[or alcohol]..but we all love it/live it,youve never met a better bunch!..,i'll get some more pics of my other bottle carriers,.tommorow,im too tired now-anthony

You definitely have your ducks in a row, so to speak. Look at that organized man! Anthony, you are certainly a professional. Wow. Look at that line up...add lilies and you are good to go. Can hardly wait to see how you fill those up.

That's a lot of required vino drinking, LOL!

Did you cut the spaces for the bottles in the styrofoam boxes?
I'll be with a bit of practice, you could just melt the needed depressions with a blow torch. Not for this purpose, but I have had a bit of experience melting styro boxes, mainly for making paintable troughs to plant. It's a lot of fun.
